PDO (Polydioxanone) threads offer the latest technology for soft, natural-looking thread lifting. The procedure is non-invasive and is designed for effective facial rejuvenation without surgery. Unlike PLA threads, which use cones and ratchets to hook to the tissue, PDO is far less invasive and works by stimulating new collagen production in a targeted area. PDO threads have no cones, thus no unwanted distortion to the tissue. This anti-ageing treatment method has an excellent safety record as it is the same threads used in cardiac and surgical sutures.
PDO thread is ultra-fine and it is broken down naturally within the body. It is invisible within the skin and the result is therefore very natural looking. PDO Threadlift involves creating a mesh of PDO threads throughout the area to be treated in order to form a network of supporting fibres and new collagen. It mechanically induces skin tension into the deep layers of the subcutaneous tissue and therefore enables a tightening and lifting effect. A PDO threadlift increases metabolism and stimulates blood flow to the treated area, it triggers fibroblasts to produce more collagen, therefore restoring volume and improving the skin elasticity and texture. If the thread is inserted into the fatty tissue, natural lipoysis is stimulated and consequently the number of fat cells and their volume decreases.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a painful treatment?
The procedure does not involve pain, bleeding or swelling. The patient may feel slight stinging, similarly to an acupuncture treatment.
When does the effect appear and how long does it last?
The first effects are visible after 2-3 weeks, but considerable improvement appears after 2-3 months, when induction of new collagen begins.
The effect is long-lasting, typically around 18-24 months.
Therapy schedule
A medical consultation is performed prior to the treatment, during which the doctor discusses in detail the principle and effects of the treatment. The procedure takes approximately one hour (depending on the number of threads used). On average, approximately 40-50 threads are needed for the face. First, the treated area is anaesthetised with cream, following which the doctor implants threads in the correct manner to achieve the desired results.
Post-treatment recommendations
There are no contraindications against returning to the normal daily activity after the treatment. Reddening at the thread introduction spots should disappear 3-5 hours after the treatment.
